At its meeting of October 2011, the board of the Southeast Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians (SESAH) established an “Emerging Professional Scholarship.” This scholarship will offer $400 a year for an architectural historian to attend and present a paper at the SESAH annual meeting.

One $400 scholarship will be offered for each annual meeting. To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

The scholarship committee, composed of the conference chair and SESAH Preservation Officer, will choose the scholarship-winner from the completed drafts submitted in August and notify all applicants of the results by the end of August.

SESAH was founded in 1982 at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta to promote scholarship on architecture and related subjects and to serve as a forum for ideas among architectural historians, architects, preservationists, and others involved in professions related to the built environment. Our nonprofit organization holds an annual meeting, publishes a newsletter twice a year, an annual journal, ARRIS, and presents annual awards, including the "Best of the South" preservation award. The annual meeting features scholarly paper sessions, business meeting, study tours, and a keynote lecture by a national leader in the field. SESAH members come from across the U.S.
